The KLIMATE project begins with a market study for the introduction of a MaaS platform in the metropolitan area.
The KLIMATE project, linked to the Thematic Area of Urban Transitions, begins with the aim of evaluating the viability in the market of different business models that serve to introduce a MaaS platform in metropolitan areas of Spain and the Netherlands.
With this project, funded by EIT Climate-KIC and lasting 6 months, it is therefore intended to develop a business model that promotes the implementation of a travel planning tool aimed at multi-modality in the metropolitan context. #KLIMATe combines the different transport services available, both public and private, to promote a mobility offer adapted to the needs of each user.
The study involves different urban actors: transport operators, local authorities, other stakeholder groups (ICT developers, etc.), as well as end users (citizens).
With this new model of service and sustainable business, which can be replicated internationally and whose case studies will be developed in the regions of Madrid and Randstad, it is also intended to reduce the environmental impact of emissions and stimulate the use of shared and sustainable means of transport.
The Transport Research Centre (TRANSyT) of the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and the Smart Public Transport Lab of the Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) form the European consortium that, led by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) will be responsible for developing the project. #KLIMATe with the support of entities such as the Metropolitan Mobility Observatory (WMO) and Dutch Railways (NS).
