ABERTIS CHAIR AWARDS

Chair associated with the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). At the end of the ABC Sustainable Economy Forum, the Abertis Chair presented its Abertis Awards in research on transport infrastructure management and road safety in Spain (2019 and 2020).

At the end of the ABC Sustainable Economy Forum, the Abertis Chair, associated with the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), has presented its Abertis Awards in research on transport infrastructure management and road safety in Spain, corresponding to the 2019 and 2020 editions. It is a distinction that recognizes the best doctoral theses or final degree projects of university students from all over Spain, related to the management of road infrastructures in all its aspects, whether technical or management, social or economic.

In the XVII edition of the awards (corresponding to the 2019 call), the prize in the category of transport infrastructure management went to Dr. Marcel Sala, from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. As a finalist in this category, the prize has been awarded to Dr. Álvaro Rodríguez, from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. And in the road safety modality, the winner was Dr. Jesús Balado, from the University of Vigo.

Regarding the XVIII edition (2020 call) of these awards, the thesis of Dr. Manuel Fuentes of the Polytechnic University of Madrid has been awarded in the category of transport infrastructure management. For its part, in the category of road safety, the winner was Dr. Miguel Clavijo, from the Polytechnic University of Madrid.

The winners will become finalists of the Abertis International Prize that is chosen annually from among the winners of all the countries where the Abertis Chairs are implanted, and whose jury is scheduled to meet next October. The award ceremony was attended by Elena Salgado, president of the Abertis Foundation and the rector of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Guillermo Cisneros.
