Human Resources

The TRANSyT Transport Research Center is located in the Higher Technical School of Civil Engineers, Canals and Ports of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, where more than 40 researchers , between contracted and scholarship holders, develop their activity.

Conveyor Systems Lab Software

It has a license for the classic software packages for modelling, transport planning: EMME/3 , Visum-Vissim , Vensim DSS, Biogeme, …, as well as other systems for the statistical treatment of information and software development for calculation technical such as Statgraphics , SPSS or Matlab .

There are also several programs for training activities in Transport: GUTs and PLUTO, designed at the Institute of Transport at the University of Leeds.

Collaboration is being carried out in the development of a strategic transport and land use model called MARS (Metropolitan Activity Relocation Simulator) together with the Technical University of Vienna.

Geographic Information Systems

For information processing, theArcGis Geographic Information System – ArcView and ArcInfo, MapInfo , are used to support geo-referenced databases and for the analysis of transportation planning processes.

Library

There is a specialized library with a fund of more than 4,000 volumes, among which those related to transport planning, quantification of externalities, infrastructure financing and demand modeling stand out.
The Transyt Transport Research Center is subscribed to the main specialized journals , more than 25, and bibliographic exchange agreements with the Documentation Center of the Madrid Transport Consortium, the Ministry of Public Works and the Spanish Railways Foundation.
