Natalia Sobrino holds a PhD in Engineering with International Mention from the Polytechnic University of Madrid in the Official Doctorate Programme in Civil Engineering Systems specialising in Transport. She is Associate Professor at the Department of Transport Engineering, Urbanism and Territory of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, and Secretary of TRANSyT. Her research career covers several areas of transport planning and mobility management: (i) energy and environmental efficiency of transport; (ii) impact assessment of new forms of mobility; (iii) logistics and freight transport. In these areas, Dr Sobrino has participated in several international, national and regional competitive R&D projects, highlighting her participation in European projects in different programmes (Horizon Europe, H2020, FP7).
Another important milestone in Dr. Sobrino’s research work has been the registration of the HERA Software ‘Huella energética de operación de Autopistas’ applied to the estimation of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and energy consumption of road transport in Spain, which is used to evaluate traffic management strategies and their impact on climate change.
