Emilio Ortega Pérez is Associate Professor of Geographic Information Systems at the ETSI of Forestry, Forestry and Natural Environment of the UPM. His research focuses on the evaluation of the effects of transport infrastructures on the territory, such as changes in accessibility levels, territorial cohesion, landscape character or loss of connectivity, through the development of tools and methodologies based on the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). On a local scale, he has studied the effects of urban configuration on pedestrian mobility and pollution in cities. He has participated in and directed R&D projects in national public calls for proposals, including several of the State Plan, and in international projects. He has also participated in numerous research contracts with administrations. As a result of the research carried out in these projects, he has published numerous articles in scientific journals, book chapters and communications at conferences.
