Miriam Martínez holds a PhD and a degree from the Polytechnic University of Madrid (Spain), obtained in 2016 and 1999, respectively. Since 2000, she has been a tenured professor in the Department of Transportation, Land Use, and Urban Planning Engineering.
She is the coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Infrastructure Planning and Management. She is also a Road Safety Auditor for the State Road Network of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
Miriam Martínez has held key administrative positions, including, from 2023 to the present, Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Infrastructure Planning and Management at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, from 2008 to 2014, Director of the Department of Civil Engineering: Transport Infrastructure at the UPM (Technical School of Public Works), and from 2014 to 2015 she was Deputy Director of the Department of Civil Engineering: Construction, Infrastructure, and Transport (Technical School of Public Works).
Dr. Martínez is an active member of the road safety and transport engineering community. She is a member of the Road Safety Committee (C13) of the Technical Road Association (ATCPIARC). She also sits on review committees to evaluate the performance of road signage products, ensuring compliance with ISO 17065 standards.
